Ronn Torossian is a CEO, an American public relations executive, and the founder of a New York-based 5W Public Relations.

  • Personal life

Ronn Torossian was born on August 25, 1974 in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in The Bronx and studied at Stuyvesant High School in New York City. During his student years at the State University of New York in Albany, he became the national president of Betar North American Branch, which is an international Zionist youth movement that is based in Likud Party in Israel. In 1994, he and Rabbi Avi Weiss protested against the Nobel Peace Prize Awardee Yasser Arafat and he was detained and released. After college, he moved to Israel and co-founded with fellow Betar members who also became Israeli politicians, Danny Danon and Yoel Hasson, an organization called “Yerushalayim Shelanu”, which means to “Our Jerusalem”, which promoted Israeli settlement in Eastern Jerusalem.

Ronn Torossian started his career as public relations executive in the year of 1994, he was working with the soon-to-be New York City Council Speaker Peter Vallone, Sr during Vallone’s trip to Israel. He worked at two firms, as well as the MWW Group. Later in 2002, he launched the 5W Public Relations. Because of this, he was ranked 35th in the year of  2014 by the New York Observer. In 2017, the company’s reporting organization J.R O’Dwyer Company has ranked Torossian’s company at 11th after they submitted their income and employment information to them, with a total revenue of $24 million.

  • Critical Response and Reaction

Torossian’s work was praised and criticised at the same time. A business magazine named “Business Week” called him “loud, crass, buzz-obsessed,” the “Bad Boy of Buzz,” and the self-anointed “brash new face of PR.” Atlantic Monthly’s writer Jeffrey Goldberg called him “the most disreputable flack in New York”. A blog named Gawker’s Hamilton Nolan also wrote that Torossian “embodies the public’s worst ideas about what a PR person is: loud, brash, more flash than substance, dirty, manipulative, amoral, and, in the end, not particularly bright.”
